[00:00:00] Her perspective on fame and metrics, I think when you're a little bit older your focus kind of shifts You're not as like worried about vanity metrics like views like money chances are you're probably like in a more stable part of your life or career

[00:00:16] Chances are like you're financially secure. I'm not saying you're like loaded But chances are you've got like a good thing going on with whatever you're doing with your content with your life with your family

[00:00:27] You have like a more realistic approach to like these metrics and this quote-unquote fame and like trying to be an influencer You're not as probably thirsty to do that So what's up guys Stoked to be back here. I apologize last week. I did not release an episode

[00:00:53] Kind of sick too, which is a bummer you'd hear that in my voice But yeah, my wife gave birth to our second daughter June 15th, and I was gonna release an episode last week, but

[00:01:06] Decided I couldn't pull off a new one lot going on and I was gonna hit you with a rerun But I decided to take a break and you know Sometimes I think that's good because now when I came back and as I'm recording this I feel refreshed

[00:01:19] I feel excited again. I took like a week off work or so nine days Maybe I was enjoying it But also I was like itching to get back a little bit and then I would enjoy it again

[00:01:28] And finally I was like, oh this is great. I'm off and then I was like dude when as it got closer to me Coming back to work. I was like, oh that hell yeah I'm pumped. I'm rejuvenated

[00:01:39] And ready to go so all that to say apologize for not giving you an episode but feeling good feeling excited to create again and Think taking a break sometimes is healthy kind of

[00:01:51] Settles you down puts things into perspective and you can then approach the content from a fresh mindset Reinvigorated baby. It's kind of like music. I don't know I'm a musician. So I relate everything to that

[00:02:03] It's like you can't really write a song when you're trying to force it every week trying to force out song after song after song I feel like the best stuff comes to you when you're in a place

[00:02:15] Where you're like excited to create a relaxed to create and you're not stressed And you don't feel like you're under the gun and you have to have to have to it's more like you get to

[00:02:25] And you're approaching it from a place of peace and a place of excitement And that's for me when the crease creative juices get flowing all that to say I'm back baby and Stoked for you to hear this episode. It's all about

[00:02:40] The advantages of creating content as an older person Let's give it a go What up, potty people and welcome back to clipped as always I'm Eric your host and this show brings you the tips resources and people to help you become a better content creator today

[00:03:10] I'm talking about being an elder millennial or a person over 40 and Creating content and the question of the day is why does being an older content creator set you up for more? Genuine fulfillment with your content Believe it or not

[00:03:25] Myself those of you out there that are a little bit on the older side quote-unquote older because now we got all these Gen Z And these crazy kids that are their 20s or even teens and they're pumping out content that gets millions of views

[00:03:38] What separates us from them and why we actually might have an advantage being on the quote-unquote older side So that's what this episode is about creating content as an elder millennial or somebody over 40

[00:03:50] As always guys this podcast is sponsored by Riverside my favorite place to record audio and video online And they just did a huge announcement where they are talking about all these new features and updates that they've added

[00:04:04] These include like better timeline editing enhanced transcription sturdier recording with better syncing when recording remote improved connectivity and more so to take advantage of all this head on over to Riverside Fm and enter promo code clipped CLI PPED at checkout for 20% off

[00:04:24] So creating content as like a quote-unquote elder person I call myself an elder millennial I'm only 39 and I think in the intro I mentioned about being over 40 But same thing same concept creating content for someone who's like an adult. Maybe you've got a family. Maybe you've got kids

[00:04:41] And you're seeing all these youngsters out there 25 and or younger Pumping out content getting millions of views and maybe you're discouraged But I want to do this podcast to tell you that you shouldn't be and I'm gonna give you five reasons why

[00:04:55] creating content as like an elder millennial Will actually benefit you and give you like a unique advantage in your content And so the first is depth of life experience. I mean, you've got so much more experience than these young people on social media You can offer

[00:05:12] More wisdom really and more relatability because it's likely that you've been through some things And I think as a content creator we tend to inject like things from our life things past Experiences that maybe we've learned from maybe we got

[00:05:28] You know something we had overcome something and I think whether or not you're like talking about that directly I think that life experience just comes across in your content and You give real advice because you've been through like quote-unquote real since situations

[00:05:47] There's so many people on social media where it's like This theoretical knowledge like they're trying to like how to master Crypto trades or how to grow from zero to a million followers or

[00:05:59] How to get your first ten thousand video views online and you know, it's funny because a lot of times like people Haven't even done that themselves and they're using like

[00:06:08] those like hooks as like their tagline and like their brand like learn how to do X Y Z at like this Exponential level and maybe they've done like a little bit of that or they're on that journey as well

[00:06:20] But I see a lot of people doing what I call theoretical knowledge not practical knowledge or like real-life experience with the real-life advice and a proven track record and I think if you are a little bit older it's likely that you've achieved and overcome some things and

[00:06:36] You're probably gonna pepper those into your content as like part of your teaching or part of Your draw and just why people want to genuinely

[00:06:46] Genuinely like you because they can trust you because they know you're not BS in them to try to get clicks and views and like hyping things up And it's more you're coming from a genuine place when you speak with genuine stories Genuine triumphs and genuine failures

[00:07:03] And the next is number two her Perspective on fame and metrics. I think when you're a little bit older your your focus kind of shifts and you're not as

[00:07:15] You're not as like worried about vanity metrics like views like money chances are you're probably like in a more stable part of your life or career Chances are like you're Financially secure. I'm not saying you're like loaded

[00:07:29] But chances are you've got like a good thing going on with whatever you're doing with your content with your life with your family And so you're you know like a more

[00:07:38] You have like a more realistic approach to like these metrics and this quote-unquote fame and like trying to be an influencer You're not as probably thirsty to do that And I think that shows because I think when people are thirsty in their content

[00:07:52] You can kind of see that I think there's just like a relaxation and a calmness and a comfortableness That comes across in your content when you're playing the long game You're truly enjoying what you're doing and you're not so much focused on

[00:08:06] Like trying to blow up so number three financial and personal stability And I kind of touched on this but one you've got like your career kind of already said You've got a little bit of money in the bank and you're just more settled It creates that stress-free

[00:08:21] Environment to create in and I think that that's huge because I think all of us are Creators at heart whether we know it or not and when we actually have the time To sit and create and not be worried about like the money the advertising the sponsorships

[00:08:35] We create from a more like genuine place because we're kind of doing it for the right reason and like the self-fulfillment rather than trying to Get on that hamster wheel and like if you don't hit your numbers

[00:08:49] You're not getting paid this week and then you can't pay your bills So I think that's a huge advantage and like family I think if you have kids and a wife or husband or whatever

[00:08:58] He just have a different mindset. You're more responsible believe it or not. I would say that you're more responsible I just had my second daughter as of like 10 days ago at the time of recording this and I think you start to focus on like

[00:09:12] Family and like the things that really are truly important like you kind of learn what's important when you're at that stage of life And yeah, the content is important. You want to create good content and You know probably see some success from that whatever that means to you

[00:09:26] But really like when your focus is on like those real things in life that like light you up Like your wife your husband whatever and your kids the content almost becomes like secondary And and the striving and the chasing almost becomes secondary yet for me personally

[00:09:43] It's in the back of my mind like I feel like I'm always chasing. I always want to do better But I feel like I do now have a lot more time to sit back and be like, okay

[00:09:50] What really matters like do I need to rush and like put out that piece of content in that video? Just to do it or can I kind of take my time and do it from a place that just feels more natural and feels right

[00:10:04] This leads into number four creating for fulfillment You're creating for personal satisfaction rather than financial gain And I think when you're doing that there's this aura that comes across in your content and yeah

[00:10:17] Maybe it's not appealing to the Gen Z's or whatever is below them. I think it's called gen alpha but You know with tech and as things continue to move quickly especially as like millennials get older and even like

[00:10:31] Gen Xers they're probably looking for people that are similar to their age when For the content that they're consuming like chances are they're not consuming like the content of like a 23 year old

[00:10:42] Who follows her who has a camera following around in Manhattan all day going from like yoga to the coffee shop to like Some trendy bar at night chances are like their values are more aligned with yours because you're kind of similar points of life And so I think

[00:11:01] They're gonna get satisfaction from that and you are knowing that like you're reaching people that are in a similar place In life and that's fulfilling and number five is changing demographics. There's more people online like older Millennials

[00:11:16] Gen Xers and boomers than ever before and you might have believe it or not more opportunity to monetize and sell a Service or a product because if you're selling something Just aren't like they were gonna have the means to buy

[00:11:33] Into whatever you're doing or whatever you're selling whereas like a younger generation They're inundated with so much shit and so many influencers And they don't know they're asked from their elbow or like who they even are what they want because there's so much coming at them

[00:11:46] From all directions each day or if you're like an older more focused audience You're a little bit older and they see that in your content That builds trust and hey, they're gonna have the money to buy your product or service that you talk about in your content so

[00:12:02] don't sleep on The older generation I'm only 39 again. I don't even I don't think a part of the older generation yet. Although I've got a lot of gray hair

[00:12:15] But yeah, we might be more apt right by your product or service or whatever it is that you're putting out because We're already established We've got a little bit of money in the bank and we're probably eager to try new things

[00:12:27] So yeah, that's why I think creating content as an elder millennial Gen Z or boomer has a lot of advantages And I think the market for that type of content is gonna continue to grow especially as millennials get older We're looking to other millennials for

[00:12:45] Advice and information so how old are you and where are you at in your content creation? Have you started are you thinking about starting do you feel like you're too old? Let me know
