[00:00:00] Yes, so that's some classical music guys and what I'm going to be talking about in this

[00:00:54] even speed up but help you get in the zone because as you know, editing podcasts can

[00:00:59] be a little bit tedious especially if you're on like the beginner side of things.

[00:01:05] For me it's like a blessing and a curse I love it but it can also be frustrating and

[00:01:09] so I'm going to be sharing with you in this episode a tip for my friend Jay Yao who's the

[00:01:15] producer of the James Altature show about using classical music to play in the background

[00:01:22] while you edit.

[00:01:24] We all know there's some benefits of classical music or if you didn't know there are and

[00:01:27] I'm going to get into a few of those and then kind of talk about how I've been

[00:01:32] using this tip from him and how it's helped me get in the zone and be more efficient

[00:01:36] with my editing and kind of make it more enjoyable too.

[00:01:39] But before we get into it, giving a shout out to Riverside if you're looking for a great

[00:02:14] code clipped at the name of this show and you'll get 20% off now classical music in

[00:02:19] your workflow let's give it a go.

[00:02:27] So let's set the stage picture this you're sitting down to edit your next episode

[00:02:31] you've got your coffee, your water, maybe your editing notes but you're looking at an

[00:02:36] endless timeline of audio tracks and you're like shit this is gonna take forever and

[00:02:44] I'll be sitting here and it's gonna be kind of fun for like the first hour and

[00:02:48] then I'm really gonna be grinding it out.

[00:02:51] Here's a trick that I learned from my buddy Jay on how to kind of get more in the

[00:02:56] zone and that's playing classical music in the background while you edit.

[00:03:01] You're not gonna do this like within your session like drop in classical music

[00:03:06] tracks no honestly I just use Spotify for it. It's almost like a sound bath and

[00:03:11] if any of you have done yoga or your wives your girlfriends or yourself a

[00:03:14] sound bath where they play really relaxing typically it's like meditative

[00:03:18] music and sometimes you sit there and you meditate or maybe do some light

[00:03:23] movement this is kind of like that but it's with classical music.

[00:03:27] The reason why classical is that studies have shown especially like pieces with

[00:03:32] like a steady rhythmic pace can improve concentration and mental endurance and I

[00:03:39] used to study to classical music sometimes in college those years ago but

[00:03:44] it's kind of a similar concept it kind of just I don't it does something to

[00:03:49] your brain and I'm not gonna look up all like the scientific evidence on it but I

[00:03:53] know there's tons of studies and it just kind of helps you get in a flow

[00:03:56] there's no lyrics or anything like that and it that cognitive function in your

[00:04:00] brain just kind of gets you going and so I challenge you in your next episode

[00:04:05] play some classical music in the background I find that more like

[00:04:09] strings and really light classical music works wonders for me sometimes like

[00:04:14] the big orchestra hits boom boom and like the strings are going crazy and

[00:04:18] that's too much sometimes I feel like that interferes so find what works for you

[00:04:24] type in classical on Spotify there's all types of like genres in classical so

[00:04:30] find what works for you and the key here is like to play it at a really low

[00:04:35] level you'll find there's a lot of dynamic range in classical music it can

[00:04:38] go up or can go down like crescendos decrescendos volume lifts so find like a

[00:04:47] level that works for you where it's just barely in the background you're just

[00:04:50] hearing it at times I think the point is like you don't even want to notice it

[00:04:54] sometimes because you're just in the zone editing and then like a few minutes

[00:04:57] later maybe it rises up a little you're like oh yeah that's been there

[00:05:00] this whole time and I've been focused and it's helped me with my process

[00:05:05] and so finding the right pacing and volume is key if you if it's like

[00:05:10] distracting it's either too loud or maybe it's not the right genre of classical

[00:05:13] so keep that in mind and if it's a show you're working on with like a lot of

[00:05:17] sound design and a show that has like its own music built into it it's

[00:05:21] probably gonna clash so I don't recommend using it in that sense but man

[00:05:26] I'm reading here as part of my script is complex patterns that stimulate

[00:05:31] your brain's processing centers but it doesn't demand attention the way like

[00:05:35] lyrical music so if you're looking for a little bit of a hack try this I think

[00:05:41] if you implement it you may love it and if you don't hey fuck off don't do it

[00:05:46] don't really fuck off that's just how I talk funny enough I've actually got

[00:05:51] classical music playing right now my headphones very chill it's almost like

[00:05:54] if you guys have ever been in Nordstroms there's like the piano

[00:05:57] player I feel like this track that's playing is that kind of vibe but that's

[00:06:02] it guys you're listening to clipped head on over to the website the podcast haven

[00:06:07] that's the main channel or the main brand that this show falls under I've got

[00:06:13] tons of resources on the website blogs additional podcasts I talk about

[00:06:29] starting a podcast growing a podcast or monetizing a podcast so keep listening

[00:06:34] keep engaging keep creating I'm out
