[00:00:42] talking about MoPod, M-O-W-P-O-D and how you can use their service to boost podcast

[00:00:50] to get more downloads. And this is a paid podcasting strategy. Just want to leave you

[00:00:56] with that caveat before we get into it. And before we get into it, I want to give a shout

[00:01:02] out to this podcast sponsor. That's Riverside. If you're looking to record high fidelity

[00:01:31] OK, so how to use MoPod to boost podcast episode downloads? Let's give it a go.

[00:01:50] MoPod is an online service provider that helps promote podcasts. And with MoPod,

[00:01:56] you can actually pay to boost downloads and visibility of specific episodes.

[00:02:01] So I just did this for last week's episode where I talked about how to use SEO to rank

[00:02:09] higher with an Apple podcast search. So the episode after this, I'm going to report

[00:02:14] back and tell you about some of the results from that and kind of what it got me.

[00:02:20] So stay tuned. That's a little teaser for next week. But in this week, let's learn

[00:02:25] more about MoPod, why I decided to use it and how it works. Head on over to

[00:02:30] mo pod dot com while you're listening to this or at another moment. But it's

[00:02:34] M.O.W. P.O.D. Dot com. And they're a podcast audience growth agency.

[00:02:40] And per their website, MoPod is the largest driver of engaged listeners to

[00:02:45] many of the most prominent podcasts in the U.S. Need to grow your podcast

[00:02:50] audience with a real engaged listeners while meeting your podcast growth goals

[00:02:55] against realistic KPIs. Look no further. So that's their tagline.

[00:03:01] And I've seen these guys having booths at like podcast movement.

[00:03:04] And a couple of them have actually like slid into my LinkedIn DMs.

[00:03:09] And so I've known about it for a while, but I finally decided, OK,

[00:03:12] MoPod, let's check it out, play around with it, throw a little bit of

[00:03:15] money at it to try to grow the show. And so that's what I did.

[00:03:20] Let me tell you how that works for you guys, for me.

[00:03:23] They have a self-serve section of the business for independent podcasters.

[00:03:29] And how this works per the website is our system will create and place

[00:03:34] the ads, let you set a budget and allow you to log in to monitor

[00:03:38] the ad campaigns process for as little as one hundred dollars.

[00:03:43] Then you click on promote your podcast.

[00:03:46] And basically what you do now is you enter your RSS feed.

[00:03:49] Boom, your show will come up and then you set your budget.

[00:03:53] The lowest minimum you can pay is one hundred dollars.

[00:03:57] And that one hundred dollars, I guess they're guaranteeing you

[00:04:00] one hundred and eleven downloads.

[00:04:02] And that comes out to 90 cents per download.

[00:04:05] And if you crank up the price, the cost per download drops.

[00:04:09] So you spend a thousand dollars.

[00:04:12] The cost per download is 82 cents.

[00:04:15] And for that, you get one thousand one hundred and eleven downloads

[00:04:20] of a particular episode somewhere in the middle.

[00:04:23] Let's say you want to spend those go lower.

[00:04:26] Let's say you want to spend two hundred seventy five dollars.

[00:04:28] The cost per download is 89 cents and you're guaranteed three hundred

[00:04:31] and five downloads. So after you put in your RSS feed,

[00:04:36] you can select an episode from your feed.

[00:04:38] You enter your billing information. Boom.

[00:04:41] You submit. You hit the boost now button.

[00:04:45] I guess these are called boosts, Mopod boosts.

[00:04:47] And so they're going to boost the downloads of a specific episode

[00:04:51] that you select.

[00:04:53] Now, how does that work? Where do they how do they create an ad?

[00:04:57] Do they create an ad? Where do they put it?

[00:05:02] And what's interesting is I don't have a ton of information on that,

[00:05:05] but there was someone from their team who slid into my DMs.

[00:05:09] And let me find that.

[00:05:13] OK, so the person, I'm not going to mention their name,

[00:05:15] but they DM me. I kind of asked them, how does Mopod work?

[00:05:18] I've heard of you guys. I've seen you guys.

[00:05:21] I know there's like a paid strategy that I can use within your platform.

[00:05:25] And so this is what the person said.

[00:05:28] We use visual promo ads across websites.

[00:05:31] We use direct programmatic and incentivize ads

[00:05:34] and target audiences based on actions, profiles, et cetera.

[00:05:39] We run campaigns on a fixed cost basis.

[00:05:42] Our Apple follower tool has been most popular

[00:05:46] as it is ideal for growing audience and chart ranking.

[00:05:51] So what does that mean?

[00:05:52] Well, I guess they're advertising on other websites

[00:05:56] that are maybe in a similar genre or niche.

[00:06:00] So I asked him, OK, so like, how does the retention work?

[00:06:04] So, yes, like all these people see whatever kind of ad

[00:06:08] Mopod is putting out, like, what's the retention?

[00:06:12] Do people just download that one episode?

[00:06:14] Do they follow and subscribe and kind of seem to stick around

[00:06:18] and actually enjoy the show or episode that's being advertised to them?

[00:06:23] And this person who works for Mopod said our Apple follow tool

[00:06:27] shows 70 to 80 percent retention out of 1000 followers post campaign.

[00:06:33] Of that 70 to 80 percent, 40 of those become engaged listeners.

[00:06:39] OK, sounds pretty good.

[00:06:41] There's a lot of math there, but.

[00:06:44] That's as far as I can tell you guys kind of how it works.

[00:06:49] And I did pay $100 and I boosted last week's episode,

[00:06:55] which if you listen to the show was all about how to use SEO

[00:06:59] to rank higher within Apple Podcast search ratings.

[00:07:02] And so I'm excited to report back on that.

[00:07:05] I'm excited to report back on that.

[00:07:07] I got an email with my receipt for what I purchased.

[00:07:10] I'm going to log into Mopod now.

[00:07:15] If I can find the fucking login button, let's see, let's see.

[00:07:20] OK, so I'm going to click on campaigns just as in progress.

[00:07:25] And so that's really all I've got for you guys today was

[00:07:29] I wanted to introduce you to this platform, largely for the self service

[00:07:33] feature, where you don't have to talk to anyone.

[00:07:35] You don't you just you log in.

[00:07:38] You select how much you want to pay.

[00:07:39] It's going to tell you how many downloads you're going to get.

[00:07:42] And hopefully I just kind of explain how that works,

[00:07:45] how you're going to get those downloads based on the way

[00:07:49] that Mopod is going to advertise your show, which is in direct

[00:07:53] words from an employee there.

[00:07:55] But yeah, just wanted to show you kind of what I did,

[00:07:57] how it works, what it is.

[00:08:00] And I'm going to report back next week with my findings.

[00:08:03] It doesn't say how long it takes a week.

[00:08:05] I don't know.

[00:08:06] I'll report back next week to kind of see what happened,

[00:08:09] what kind of movement I'm seeing on that episode.

[00:08:12] And yeah, stoked to experiment.

[00:08:15] I think part of podcasting,

[00:08:16] growth marketing is you got to experiment.

[00:08:19] I've mentioned in the past that organic growth is best.

[00:08:22] And over the long run, if you keep pushing

[00:08:25] that organic growth will slowly happen.

[00:08:27] But having a paid strategy, I think, is

[00:08:32] definitely a necessary part of how to grow your podcast.

[00:08:35] And so hopefully if this tickles your fancy,

[00:08:37] check out Mopod, M-O-W-P-O-D dot com.

[00:08:42] And that's it for me today, guys.

[00:08:44] Wanted to share that and I will report back.

[00:08:48] And hey, if you haven't yet,

[00:08:50] leave a rating and a review.

[00:08:51] I'd like to see what you guys think of the show

[00:08:54] and how I can improve it.

[00:08:57] Yeah, man, keep listening, keep engaging, keep creating.

[00:08:59] And I am out.
